Food4Thought Dairy Goats is located in Douglass, KS. It is managed by myself, Brandy Rigg and my mom, Misty Rigg. We currently own three breeds; Nubian, Recorded Grade, and Lamancha.
About our Herd:
We purchased our first dairy goats as bottle babies in 2011 from the sale barn. Our 4-H meat goat project leader of 4RS Dairy Goats helped us register those babies Native on Appearance through ADGA and was a valued mentor for our herd from the beginning; they even gave me my first purebred Nubian. Without the guidance of so many amazing herds throughout the years we might not have continued this incredible journey.
Our herd name, Food4Thought was established in 2017. It comes from my childhood love of reading and the bottle babies which started this journey whom were named; Coffee, Cake, and Creamer.
In 2018 we amazingly were able to attend ADGA Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. I exhibited the 18th place 2 yr old Nubian doe and was 5th place in the senior judging contest.
In 2021 we attended ADGA Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. We brought 13 does total. I exhibited the 18th place 3 yr old Nubian doe, the 20th place junior yearling Nubian doe, the 18th place sr kid Recorded Grade doe, the 12th place 4 yr old Lamancha doe, the 15th place sr kid Lamancha doe, the 14th place dry yearling Lamancha doe, and the 8th place dry yearling Lamancha doe.
I made the incredibly long and arduous journey to the 2023 ADGA National Show in Redmond, OR with some fellow midwest dairy goat breeders. I took four does to show. I exhibited the 7th place 4 yr old Sable doe, the 10th place Recorded Grade senior yearling, and the 9th place Recorded Grade 2 yr old doe. Our Recorded Grade senior yearling doe was used by a junior youth ADGA member in showmanship and they placed 9th together.
