Losing an animal always hurts but this one is extremely painful. Eclair was a one of a kind and I can only hope to breed another half as special as she is. She earned her dry leg easily in the open division at 3 months of age, she finished her championship at her first show as a 2yr old 2F, and won many BDIS honors or been runner up. I know for a fact she would've won more and likely would've been undefeated as a 5yr old in 2023 but tragically she passed away a few days after kidding with twin bucks. We sadly do not have any daughters in the herd still, but we did keep her gorgeous 2023 spotted buckling so Eclair's genetics will be heavily influencing our herd in the future through him.
Goddard Farm Valentine
Valentine was a very special addition to our herd at 8yrs of age late summer 2022. With her powerful pedigree filled with Goddard Farm genetics I was very excited to see what kids she would give us. She kidded with twins in 2023, unfortunately one of the kids passed just after being born but the other one was a gorgeous belted doeling named; Food4Thought Box of Chocolates. Given Valentine's age I knew we likely wouldn't have many years with this sweet girl but I definitely wish we would've had a bit more time. Her legacy will continue on and hopefully grow through her very spoiled and treasured daughter, Box.
Deidrago RKTR Aloes Gingko
Gingko is a beautiful addition we added to our herd from Deidrago Dairy Goats. To keep herd numbers manageable Gingko was sold to a new home after she had a beautiful set of quads in 2022. While not a show doe herself, her Impact in our herd will continue through her very nice 2022 daughter, Food4Thought Choujiu which has already earned her dry leg. Very excited to see her daughter freshen in 2024.
CH 4RS Pump-a-Kin Pie
Pumpkin was the second purebred Nubian doe to join my herd. She was a welcome addition from the 4RS herd and quickly made her mark. She has one daughter that is a permanent CH and her 2022 daughter is my favorite dry yearling in 2023 already having easily won her dry leg at the very first show of the year. We currently have two Pumpkin daughters in the herd; Food4Thought Polished Princess and Food4Thought PKN Butterscotch and are very excited for their futures!
Lamancha
GCH Central CAV Farms Mars Bar
Mars Bar was the foundation doe for my lamancha herd. We actually first got lamanchas to breed for experimentals, so Mars Bar is also the foundation for our experimental herd as well. She was my very first doe to ever get her permanent championship and was also my first doe to earn her milk star. So she has a ton of significance in our herd. We had some great moments together and I miss her to this day, but I know she lives on in our herd through her progeny.
Food4Thought Godiva
Godiva is a beautiful daughter of GCH Central CAV Farms Mars Bar our special Lamancha foundation doe, we made the decision to sell Godiva in 2022 when she failed to settle. She is our winningest doe that never got a single leg, but her daughters did well breaking that trend. Both of her 2020 does went GCH and BDIS as dry yearlings in 2021. She will forever have an impact in our herd through the does in our herd that go back to this lovely doe. Currently in the herd we have four beautiful granddaughters; Food4Thought Moonwalker Wine, Food4Thought PG Gargle Blaster, Food4Thought Dove Chocolate, and Food4Thought Marshmallow Moon.
CH Food4Thought Angel Food Cake
Angel earned her championship as a 3yr old 1st freshener. Her 2021 kidding was a rough one and unfortunately occurred during the coldest week of the year resulting in her getting frostbite on her teats. Despite the struggles with trying to get her to heal we kept her to try and get one last kidding, but unfortunately she failed to breed. So we said goodbye to this beautiful girl. Her 2021 daughter, Food4Thought Devil's Food Cake easily earned her dry leg as a kid and was an incredibly beautiful doe in general appearance. Devils freshened as a FF in 2023 however experienced bad luck similar to her dam and her incredible mammary was damaged resulting in a bad case of mastitis despite stringent cleanliness shortly after kidding. She was sold due to the irreparable damage to her udder and the risk keeping her even just as a brood doe would have on her health. Angel and Devils may have left our herd due to unfortunate circumstances but they still are very important to us. We're very hopeful that this trend does not continue with Angel's granddaughter and Devil's daughter; a very promising doe named Food4Thought Upside-Down Cake.
Recorded Grade
CH The Mars Cinnabon
Cinnabon was the very first experimental we bred and very successful in our herd. She finished easily as a 3 yr old, was BOB at the KS state fair as a 4yr old and was runner up for BIS that year. Cinnabon was an incredibly easy doe to milk, with very long teats and large orifices. Cinnabon was sold in 2023 mostly to keep numbers low and also because of her pasterns which worsened as she got older. She gave us mostly bucks while she was with us but we do have one daughter in the herd that I am super EXCITED for! She is Food4Thought French Toast and while we don't have any other Cinnabon daughters in the herd I know Cinnabon will have a huge impact through our herd given how incredible the one daughter we do have is.
The Cake
Cake was one of the three Nubian type does registered as NOA that started our journey with dairy goats. We no longer have her and while we no longer have any progeny related to her either we will forever remember her for what she started. She taught us a lot in the many years she was with us.
Food4Thought Blackberry
Blackberry makes this short list of some of the most important does that were in our herd but are no longer with us because she marks an important milestone for our herd; she was the very first doe from our herd to win BDIS. She was a lovely doe but we needed to keep numbers manageable and we kept a daughter out of her to continue her line and improve upon it. Her influence in our herd continues through her grandaughter Food4Thought Blackberry 2.5.
